Ford Mustang GT

The 60's was a brilliant decade, the first man on the moon, England won the world cup and the first Ford Mustang was released. Though it is a little bit different to look at and drive today, it is still pure American muscle and only getting better.

There are plans for a new Ford Mustang which you may have seen little bits about but it hasn't been released yet so for the sake of this post, it will be about the sixth generation. If you haven't seen much about the new ones though, they have one called the 'Dark Horse' and it looks phenomenal. The other 'Mach' Mustang's are also going to be ignored for now as I am planning to write about them in the future.

The Mustang GT has a massive 5.0L V8 engine producing 450bhp and 570Nm of torque. That sounds like an awful lot of power and it is but there is one issue... the car is wide and heavy. It is a muscle car after all so that is expected and by no means is it a slow car. The 0-60mph time is around 4.4 seconds which definitely throws you back in your chair. It is also quick enough to beat most cars off the line but you might have some trouble going round corners. It is built to be aggressive and great in straight lines, but definitely not for a track.

The driving experience is brilliant as well, you've got the awesome V8 roar in front of you and the loud exhaust behind. It's rear-wheel-drive so you can have some fun but that also makes it dangerous (or more fun). In the UK, this car is nowhere near as common as it is in the US so be prepared to be stared at and have you picture taken. The only complaint I have about this car is that the back seats are not comfortable at all, there is no leg or head room but if you are only planning to have small children back there, that won't be a problem.

In terms of price, they are actually surprisingly affordable. A brand new one will set you back around £55,000 but if you are looking to spend less than that, you can find used ones for near £30,000 online. Honestly, it is a terrible financial decision but in reality, any car that you buy is too (unless it's super rare).

JSR Score: 7/10
